The government of Canada stopped tracking anti-LGBTQ+ hate crimes, creating a perception that the queer community isn’t under attack. But in reality, there's been a dangerous rise in anti-LGBTQ+ incidents. To spark a much-needed conversation and urge Canadians and the government to act, we created the unravelled Pride flag – a flag with 6,423 missing threads. That's one thread for every hate-fuelled anti-LGBTQ+ incident we tracked ourselves, from just the first three months of 2023.
